The GIBTK has finished the “first” round of typhoon relief. But we have only begun. We will do all we can to help families get back on their feet. Many of the larger organizations have been arriving this past week with more food and water. Our GIBTK team has begun working on helping families to get their feet back on the ground and kids back to school!

  “First of all, I would like to thank our donors for keeping to support us in doing relief for the poor families badly affected by the natural disaster in Quang Nam in September. The gifts you brought to us has partly helped these families and their kids to go over difficulties and shortage of food caused by the powerful storm and flood.

It is great that there are many organizations coming to Dai Loc to do relief for the poor families who have suffered from heavy loss in the historic flood. They have brought noodle, rice. However, right now people’s worries has turned to try to become normal again.

That would be great if they can receive as much relief as possible because relief from us would never compensate for their losses in the flood. Witnessing the losses of the poor people after the flood, I said to myself that the GIBTK team should do something to help them overcome this difficult time. Something to begin to regain their lives, something that will give them hope.

It is wonderful that GIBTKs has recognized the most essential needs of each family at the right time. We first started giving noodles, water, canned fish, fish sauce and cooking oil because we knew that people really needed these things right after the flood. I want to say that GIBTKs’ team timely came to help and encourage the poor people.

 We now have stepped into the secondary relief that helps the poor people with things of long-term benefit. We brought children school supplies, provided families with blankets, bowls and cooking utensils . How happy they are when they receive these. Their happiness has been GIBTKs’ happiness.

I was told that GIBTKs has touched many people’s heart, especially people from the local Government authority. They admired GIBTKs’ team because of our good works to the poor people in need. We did home visit to those families who suffered most from the flood. We didn’t pay attention to how long it does take and how mud the road is. Nothing can stop us.

In my trips to Dai Loc district to do relief, I have been really touched by many families who lost everything! Even their houses in the flood. It is very difficult to imagine how children’s life will be after the flood because they have no house to live in,  no food to eat and no clear water to drink.

I have been haunted by the question how to get them back to school, how to provide them a safe place to live and study and how to help these families to start their life again by raising pigs, chickens since the day I first visited them.

It’s right that GIBTKs is not done. We will continue doing more to go beyond their life to help them settle their life. However, we can do nothing without donation from our kind donors who have followed each step of GIBTKs and supported GIBTKs to help the poor people. Please come with us to help the poor people when they have been in the great need of things for life after the flood.”
