Greetings from Vietnam! Yes I am back already. I wanted to drop a quick note to say hello and also take the opportunity to remind you that early registration discount ends Sunday. All funds that GIBTK team  raise go directly to GIBTK, including $5 of registration fees and if we get 200 runners we get an extra $1000! Tell your friends!

Here is the link to sign up or if you want to just support runners. https://www.kintera.org/faf/search/searchTeamPart.asp?ievent=329465&lis=1&kntae329465=E273C3CEEE9F44D2A0E78E31FDDB3A65&team=3642707&tlteam=undefined . Thanks!

The rest of the team members do not arrive till tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing what God has in store for us this trip. The past few months if not the past year I have been doing a lot of introspection. I believing our work is going to move into impacting the lives we touch in even more dramatic and lasting ways.

I am sure some are saying how much more impacting and lasting can we get, then a life saving heart surgery or a new home or a wheelchair that gets someone off the ground. But I see our programs helping more and more to not only do what I have so often termed triage relief but to find ways to get others self sustaining and even to a place in their lives that they can give back to their communities! Well more on that in the coming days.

It is my lovely wife’s birthday today. If you would send her a birthday greeting (even if you’re a day or 2 late) I sure would appreciate it. She is such a blessing to me. Not only encourages me but gives me strength to do this thing called Giving it Back to Kids. If you want to email her a b-day greeting her email is This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or you can call her at 714 713 3705!

Here is a recent wheelchair recipient’s story from one of our staff

NGUYEN DUY LUOC AGE: 62

Luoc and his wife have 2 children both single. Their oldest, a son is 30 years old and a daughter 27. They work far from home.

Mr. Luoc and his wife are poor farmers who do not have any pension and earn their living by growing rice. The local authorities told us they are one of the poorest households in the area.

Since the children work far from home all the farming and family matters are taken on by this elderly couple. In recent years because his condition and strength have gotten worse, Luoc’s wife has been responsible for all the work including taking care of Luoc’s personal daily needs,.

At the age of 2, Luoc had a high fever and the doctor diagnosed that he is suffering from poliomyelitis. In recent years the disease has made him weaker and weaker till he can no longer take care of himself. When his wife leaves to work it is very difficult for him.   This elderly man must lean on the walls or objects to move from place to place. In recent times this has caused him to stumble and fall often

This poor man and his family have dreamt of a wheelchair from night to night but it was just a dream because they were too poor to get one.

In 2008, they requested a wheelchair from the authorities and waited and hoped for the day that their dream would come true. And this past February it came to pass.

They were very happy on the day of receiving their dream of a wheelchair.  It was their first free gift. What made it an even greater wonder is that it came from donors who they have never met.

“You no longer have to carry me, do you!!!” Luoc said eagerly to his smiling wife. “This wheelchair will help me move easily by myself. This Tet holiday, we will be able to freely to visit our relatives..” As I looked into his wife’s eyes, I saw a big happiness and a deep gratefulness. A Tet holiday with full of joys is coming to Mr. Luoc’s house..

Thank you, donors very much for your love.
