Today I asked for some help from Honey Pfleger, Johnny Churilla and my son Tommy. Thank you to all taken time to email me.

Faith, Hope & Love

"Yesterday, Ali and I heard a knock at our door and to our great surprise Tom came walking through the door.  This may not seem like anything to you but he was supposed to be albacore fishing off the coast of Mexico.  Almost 24 hours of flying he caught up with us in Sandy Beach, Da Nang.  Our team was now complete!

Today we were off to revisit 2 houses our family had the privilege of building through GIBTK last summer and to interview two more deserving families.

Our 1st stop was a family of 4 living in between 2 cement houses on either side.  Utilizing their exterior walls as structure, they built their family's shelter with a patchwork of wood pieces. This shelter consisted of one room, dirt floors and a corrugated roof with many holes.  Deserving? Yes!  GIBTK will build them a new home.

2nd stop was a family of three, the father recovering from a motorcycle accident and the mother recovering from an ear condition and a beautiful little girl, 3 years old.  Ali armed with bubbles, candy and gentleness had her smiling in no time.  LOVE!  Ali presented them with a promise from our family to build the house and as Tom shook the Father's hand tears welled up in his tired eyes.  HOPE!

Now my friends come to play at my house.

Then we visited the two families who had received the gift of a new house last summer!  What an amazing transformation, not only the house but their self esteem and pride.  The mother who had been severely bombed by napalm as a child was standing tall with an air of hope and security.  Her son was all smiles & shared that his friends now love to come to his house!  They have a pig with piglets and are now self- sufficient! Yeah God!

The verse that kept coming to mind yesterday was,

We can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:13

Nothing is impossible through the cross, FAITH!

Love to all of you, Honey, Tom & Ali J"

Here is a note from my son (be sure to know he's joking about the food; and from our Nephew Johnny Churilla)

"So, at dinner the other day my father informed me that there are people waiting for me to type something, so here it is. I cannot tell you much about what it's like except that it rains sideways and the ground starts steaming up. The kids are always happy.  We took them bowling and they refused to do it at first, but later on they started to like it and had fun. It's a weird thing how much us Americans are spoiled and here just taking the kids to dinner is a special thing. Overall, everything is pretty nice, and the food is awesome."

"This has been a pretty exciting trip thus far. It's hot and humid, but that is a small price to pay for such rewarding experience. It's hard to pick out just one thing that his stood out to me since almost everything sticks out to me each day that we are here, but what I've noticed the most everywhere we have gone is how close all of the children are. No matter where we were, the orthopedic hospital or the house of a child receiving a wheelchair, kids have gathered from all around to see and support their friends.  Despite age differences, the kids of the Hai Chau Orphanage all treat each other as though they are family. I was wondering if I had made the right choice in deciding to take another trip to Vietnam after the one I took three year ago, and now I know that I did."
